In this section, we have divided your support options into three main sections. These are the areas that require special attention so OIM can always remain effective in the unique call the Lord has given us.

We Need Your Support!

For whatever reasons, this time of year our household receives a great deal of correspondence from various ministries by snail mail and e-mail that generally have requests for financial support. Perhaps it is the annual slowdown in support, resulting from overspending during the waning months of the previous year, as people try to catch up on bills that have been put on hold. Or this year, perhaps it is the fear of an economic downturn that has people tightening their belts. On the other hand, it might just be a friendly reminder that the ongoing goals and aspirations that ministries have require consistent financial resources to make them become reality.

One support request, in particular, brought to mind some of the realities and vagaries of working for the Lord in a ministerial capacity. According to one frank appeal, most people have a tendency to want to support specific needs or projects that offer concrete results. Supposedly, many people prefer tangible—rather than intangible—objects to which to direct their resources. We personally have witnessed this in the past, as our faithful supporters have responded favorably to genuine pleas for our Jeep Replacement Fund and a Computer Crisis Fund in 2007. However, what these appeals remind us about is that generally speaking, most people are reticent about supporting a ministry’s general operating account. People can have a tendency to forget that a ministry needs monthly support, just to keep the ministry viable in order to achieve its vision and/or mission.

Outreach Israel Ministries has a well-defined mission statement and many stated goals to achieve what is required to reach, teach, encourage, and disciple the Israel of God. For almost six years, we have been freely distributing our teachings on the Internet, being supported by your donations for our books, booklets, and audio CDs that are all produced from our ministry home office. We are continually thinking of new ideas and subjects that need to be addressed, as the Messianic movement grows and expands. Since our inception, we have been allowed to edit, proofread, revise, and update various titles. Today, we know we are ready to take our most popular titles to the masses in a perfect bound, paperback format.

We need your support for these efforts! Even though the common expression “Don’t judge a book by its cover” has some merit, human nature is such as many are underwhelmed or unimpressed by spiral bound books. Likewise, we know that major booksellers will not sell book titles in this format, and frequently our well-researched and academically sound materials are often overlooked in favor of other materials that have not helped the stability of the Messianic community of faith. As things stand today, we need to start seeing our materials listed with major book distributors such as Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble, and Alibris—but this can only happen when we get them into a paperback format. When we see this happen, we know that we will be able to expose more people to a balanced, loving, and scholarly approach to the Hebraic Roots of our faith.

Today, we need you to join our ministerial efforts on a regular basis with your gifts, tithes, and offerings! We need you to join the new Book Printing Fund so we can all work toward a Messianic movement that can make a serious difference in the world!

OIM Book Fund

The new OIM Book Fund is designed to raise sufficient monies to see that various book publications, produced by TNN Press, can be printed in a standard paperback, perfect bound format. Currently, we are looking to see two books printed:

OIM General Fund

The OIM General Fund is what currently enables us to pay our monthly expenses, including: regular expenditures (office and computer equipment, research materials) and utilities, the maintenance fees of the OIM and TNN websites, and the cost of mailing our monthly publication Outreach Israel News.

OIM Vehicle Fund

Each of the staff members of OIM have made personal sacrifices by choosing to serve in full time, Messianic ministry. Taking a significant pay cut, each staff member currently drives a used car that is over ten years old. These vehicles often have some mechanical challenges. In order to alleviate the strain of not having newer cars, this fund will enable to expediently repair current vehicles. Likewise, this fund will also be used to purchase newer vehicles for OIM staff when appropriate.
